Slow Boat Faces Home Plate To Keep Crown in the Championship

Time flies when you’re having burger-eating fun and we have now arrived at the 2022 Juicy Burger Cup Championship!

This year’s final round sees two former champs going head-to-head as Slow Boat and Home Plate fight it out for the ultimate burger accolade. Runners up Q MEX and Beersmith Gastropub will also face off for third and fourth places.

Slow Boat is the defending champ and has won the Burger Cup more times than any other competitor, with a massive five wins under their belt (2021, 2019, 2018, 2016, 2015). Their signature Fryburger has proved to be a firm favorite among Beijing’s burger lovers over the years. Because after all, what’s not to love about a succulent beef patty topped with cheese and crispy beer-battered fries?

Home Plate is also a veteran in the Burger Cup, with an impressive three victories to their name (2014, 2013, 2012) and placing third last year. It has been eight years since their last win, so the big question is will they be able to regain their former glory? Their Trucker Burger is certainly a solid contender, which sees a USDA beef patty topped with their slow-cooked brisket Texas chili, melted American cheddar, a sprinkling of jalapeños, onion, and homemade BBQ aioli sauce.

This is the last step in what has been a gruelling journey to reach the Championship with Slow Boat defeating TOWNSQUARE CAFÉ, Burge’s Bistro and Bar, COMMUNE RESERVE, Great Leap Brewing, and finally last year’s second place competitor Q MEX. Home Plate meanwhile claimed victory over Dongli Brewery, Hulu by TRB, Arrow Factory, newcomer Wild Kite Brewing, and finally Beersmith.
